Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) provides an additional layer of security that helps protect Assurant's confidential resources and data.
Most of your accounts and applications are currently protected by a login and password. That password is a single factor in the authentication process — the way that those applications or services confirm your identity.
Multi-Factor Authentication is the process of confirming a user's identity by validating two or more factors presented by the user, each from a different category of factors. This ensures that even in the event that a factor is compromised (e.g. a stolen password), an attacker would still not be able to gain access because theywould not have access to the additional required factor(s).
The three basic categories of factors that can be used in MFA are:
Follow the steps below for adding and/or updating MFA factors:
Use your Assurant LAN ID and Password. If you forgotten your password, use the Assurant Password Manager (APM) or call the Assurant Help Desk to reset your password.
NOTE: APM is only available within the Assurant internal network
